Background Info:
Pete Simson a radio journalist who wanted to propose to his girlfriend made a film starring himself in his underpants and hired a cinema for a surprise viewing.
Pete Simson, 26, took Hannah McDonagh, 25, to the Watershed cinema in Bristol for her birthday, saying that they were going to see an arty French film.
Miss McDonagh was none the wiser as she sat alongside other cinemagoers — real customers and staff who were all in on the plan. After the adverts Mr Simson appeared, miming the words to Daniel Bedingfield’s pop hit If You’re Not the One while wearing a variety of colourful underpants..
Mr Simson, who works for BBC Somerset, said: “The Watershed did it for free — they even arranged for a fake audience, printed tickets and put adverts at the beginning as if it were a real film. When it was over the light above us came on and I got down on one knee. She managed to blubber out ‘yes’.”
Miss McDonagh, a trainee lawyer, said: “The film looked awesome, really professional on the big screen, and it was hilarious.”
